I was asked earlier this week if I would be a guest on WCCO News Radio by host Roshini Rajkumar. She had heard on the morning shows that there was a new trend in Boudoir Photography regarding “girlfriend parties”. I was thrilled and honored to be asked and of course said YES!!

Roshini asked me if I would want to come in-studio at their Minneapolis location for the segment and I am so glad I did!! I had never been in a radio station before and it was a very cool experience. I have known Roshini for several years and am always honored to be in her presence. She made me feel totally comfortable and at ease during the segment, which was about 20 minutes but felt like it flew by in about 2 minutes!

I am very happy with how the segment turned out, you can listen to it HERE my segment starts at the 15 minute mark. We covered a lot of ground about Boudoir Photography in a very short time.

Monica & Jesse | Walker, MN Wedding | Destination Wedding Photographer

Monica and Jesse were married this past weekend at the Moondance Ranch in Walker, MN. They had the most amazing day for their wedding, given the weather we’ve been having this “spring” I would say they had the best day we’ve had thus far!

I had an amazing time photographing their wedding. They were surrounded by wonderful friends and family and everyone was having a great time. The bride was absolutely STUNNING in her dress, and the bridesmaids dresses were some of the most beautiful i’ve seen. The groom and his groomsmen were all handsome in their tuxes and I have to say some of the best behaved i’ve had to work with!!

Everything seemed to go flawlessly for their special day. I am honored to have been a part of it, and to capture some simply stunning images. I love when wedding photos have a certain flare to them!! Here is a sneak peek for your viewing pleasure!!

LGBT Wedding Giveway! | Gay Marriage in MN | Rainbow Weddings

The past 48 hours have been so amazing for me, and I am so incredibly proud to be a Minnesotan right now!! On Monday, the gay marriage bill passed, and Gov. Dayton signed the bill on Tuesday!

Monday night I posted a video when I got home after being at a seminar all afternoon. I was so excited the bill passed and wanted to celebrate by giving away a wedding photography package to one lucky couple who wanted to get married on August 1st, the day it if officially legal in MN! Well, by the next morning I had other wedding industry vendors stating they would love to hop on board with me, which absolutely melted my heart.

That afternoon I had an email from Leah Beno at Fox9 News asking if she could interview me for a segment on their 9:00 news!!! The piece aired along with Hell’s Kitchen in Minneapolis, who had put it out there a week earlier that as soon as the billed passed they would give away a wedding at their restaurant! See why I love Minnesota?!?

For those of you who don’t know my story: I have a sister who is a lesbian and been in a committed relationship with her partner, Amy, for 17 years. Two years ago, Amy was brought on trial within the Methodist Church for performing a same-sex commitment ceremony (of which she had a huge victory). Gay marriage is a subject that is near and dear to my heart, as I wish my sister and Amy could be married legally. (they reside in Wisconsin, so this bill doesn’t affect them just yet, but WI isn’t far behind!). Read about the Love ON Trial and my personal story HERE.

Vintage Rockabilly Pinup Shoot | Twin Cities Pinup Photography

Last weekend I had an absolutely wonderful time photographing a Vintage Rockabilly Pinup Shoot at Lucky Linda’s Body Art in Shakopee. The owner of the shop, Al, thought his location could be a fun spot for a shoot like this, and convey the feeling of his shop.

We had five amazing models (three of which were my clients, and two were Al’s clients). I recruited Sarah Elizabeth Artistry for hair and makeup who brought an amazing team with her which included Robin, Tony, and Ashley. Al recruited Betsy at B Squad Vintageto supply the outfits used in the shoot. It all came together magnificently!!

I am thoroughly thrilled with how the images turned out!! I wish more businesses would start seeing how a super cool shoot like this could be utilized in their business for branding and marketing. Krystie & John’s Engagement | Twin Cities Wedding Photographer

Check out Krystie and John’s beautiful guestbook for their wedding this September! We photographed their engagement session last fall and designed a gorgeous guestbook with their engagement images (which include their awesome basset hound, Barney!!!)

All of our wedding packages include an engagement session and guestbook. The engagement session is a very important part of your entire wedding experience, as it gives us the opportunity to work together and interact several times before your wedding day. Many times the groom isn’t as involved in the wedding planning as the bride and I wouldn’t even meet him until the wedding day. When we’re able to work together before hand, we start to build a relationship. I see how the two of you interact with each other. You see how I ask you to pose and make you smile. We get to know each other a bit better before I spend an entire day with you bossing you around at your most special day! When I arrive at your wedding, I hope that it feels like a friend you’ve known forever is showing up!

Confidence is Sexy | St. Paul Boudoir Photographer

This past year I had the honor of photographing over 100 boudoir sessions at the studio. Boudoir is truly my favorite session to photograph (newborn and pregnancy come in closely right behind it). I love giving women the opportunity to feel beautiful, sexy, and confident. There is nothing more rewarding than when a client leaves their viewing appointment stating how they can’t get over how great they look!!

Every single woman is beautiful and sexy, no matter their age, shape, or size. I wish more women would start to realize how gorgeous they are instead of worrying about whether or not I can photoshop the (non existant) cellulite off their thighs. I get it, we all have issues with some part of our body, but we need to embrace who we are and go forward in the world with confidence. Confidence is super sexy!!!

Our society has such warped views with what is a healthy weight and size. I know I am overweight. But I still feel sexy and confident. I will NOT hang my head in shame because society thinks I am too heavy. I will walk with my head held high, shake my ass, and let my smile shine!

I encourage EVERY woman to do a boudoir session. I know it can be a little un-nerving to walk around in lingerie in front of a stranger, but TRUST ME ~ I have never had a single session still nervous after about 3 minutes into the session. There is always that instant in which I can feel the client loosen up and begin to work it for the camera. They start to have FUN, and that is when the real beauty will shine!!

Cutest Kid Contest | St. Paul Photographer

We will once again be holding a Cutest Kid contest in the month of March.

Proceeds from this contest will go to Lasting Imprint, an organization that is near and dear to my heart. Several years ago I received a call from one of my wonderful clients asking if I would consider photographing his two month photos in the hospital, as their little baby David wasn’t able to go home yet. He was born with a congenital heart defect. Of course I said YES! and am I ever glad I did. Little David went to heaven several weeks after the session. I will never forget the day his mommy called the studio….. Mandee had answered the phone and I saw her face go pale as she said “I am so sorry to hear that”…… she hung up the phone and told me what happened with tears in her eyes and we both started crying. He definitely will forever hold a place in my heart!!

David’s mom helped start an organization called Lasting Imprint :

Lasting Imprint is a non-profit corporation established by individuals committed to fighting congenital heart defects (CHD). Our inspiration comes from the big hearts of the children and adults that have fought and continue to fight CHD every day. Their hearts have touched ours and it is our hope that you join us in our efforts to leave a lasting imprint on the CHD community.

Our Vision: To Heal All Broken Hearts

Our Mission: Lasting Imprint exists to create a supportive community that will inspire people to join in the fight against congenital heart defects through education, research, and assistance to heart families.

The Cutest Kid contest works like this: $25 entry per child, and includes a $20 print credit and mini session. Photos will be taken March 4-21st with online voting taking place March 25-29. Winners receive a cash prize as well as some other goodies we are rounding up!!! There is no purchase necessary, however, we will be offering our low-cost “sheet” pricing to all individuals! 10% of all proceeds will go directly to Lasting Imprint!!!
