A Reflection Of A Year In This So Called | Amy Zellmer Photojournalist

A Reflection Of A Year In This So Called

As I sit here on New Year’s Eve, I reflect on all that has happened in 2011. The good, the bad, and the ugly. Twenty-eleven was truly a year of changes and challenges for me. Some of them were amazing, while others were a little ugly and painful. Regardless, the year is almost at It’s final hour, time to look forward to an amazing 2012.

What I find most interesting about   our lives is that we are in a constant state of ebb and flow….. we are like a fluid movement, constantly changing and evolving. We can dwell on the pains of our past or we can learn from them and move forward, filled with more knowledge to make us smarter and stronger. It fascinates me how something beautiful can come from something ugly and painful. It proves to me that the universe is working with us to give us what we want and deserve in our lives.

I am thankful for every single thing that happened in my life this past year, whether it was happy or sad. I have watched friendships fade dim, other   friendships completely lost, and yet still, new friendships develop. I have watched my business challenge me in many ways, both good and bad. I have struggled finding my voice only to listen to it speak up loudly and wisely. I have overcome many obstacles this year and have come out of it with my head held high and knowing that I have done well. I will never let anyone tell me otherwise.   I refuse to conform with anything but awesome-ness!

I am thankful for each and every client I worked with this year, even the ones who have challenged me, as it taught me to be a better photographer and business owner as a result. I am thankful for every single friend that I interacted with, even if I may never see them again. Some friendships pushed me to see the deeper me, while others let me cry on their shoulder.   Others yet helped me unlock the powerful voice that has been hiding inside me. I am thankful to be living in my beautiful home with my snuggly cats, even if living alone has been a hard adjustment. I am thankful for my family who has supported me through everything this past year (as well as my entire life). While they may not understand me and who I am, and don’t understand my way of living, they love me and support me unconditionally. I am thankful for love lost and love found. I am thankful for my health. I am truly fortunate.

As I look around my life, I am amazed at how wonderful it really truly is. I am a photographer doing what I love, what I am most passionate about. I am helping teach and inspire other photographers. I make a good living doing what I love. I have an amazing support system, which includesYOU if you are reading this! I am grateful for the end of the year to finally be here, and starting over fresh in 2012! I hope that you continue to be a part of my year and life, I am truly blessed ……. Peace and Glitter to you all!!!

A Sexy Boudoir Friday

I have had the pleasure of photographing some really gorgeous women the past few weeks. Boudoir sessions are truly one of my favorite types of sessions to photograph….. They never knew how amazing they actually looked…. it just radiates from the images! And of course, the recipient of the images also loves them and feels super special!!

I am going to be photographing a series of projects that she has painted recently, and the first one on my list was this beautiful home in Eagan! Gilda’s Club Twin Cities | Amy Zellmer Photojournalist

Gilda’s Club Twin Cities

The past few weeks have been hectic, and I have been involved with so many great projects and events that I am going to try to catch you up to speed here on the blog!

One of the great events I was able to cover was a banquet for Gilda’s Club Twin Cities ! Gilda’s Club was started by Gilda Radner (you probably remember her from the 80’s SNL) and was designed as a place for anyone with cancer to be able to receive treatment and not be alone throughout the process. There were some really touching stories and totally amazing people. I am honored that one of my clients asked me if I would be interested in being a part of it!

Jenni Lilledahl (co-owner of Dudley Riggs Brave New Workshop) decided six years ago that we needed a Gilda’s Club here in the Twin Cities after she lost her sister to cancer; Artist Tony Whelihan unveiled a beautiful piece of 3D art that will hang in Gilda’s Club; ten-year-old Noah told his story about having cancer when he was two; and we heard amazing details of what the club will be like when it opens here in the Twin Cities next year!! The red door is one of the trademarks of Gilda’s Club ~ it is the door that will welcome you to the club! I am truly blessed to be able to work with so really fantastic organizations!

Savvy MN Magazine

As many of you know, I have had the pleasure and honor of being the official photographer for Savvy MN Magazine . I have gotten to know so many wonderful women who have graced the covers of the magazine, or spoken at the Savvy in the City event, or attended a Soiree. Last week we were the official host of the Savvy Soiree, offering all attendees a free Facebook photo! We had a fantastic group of ladies come in to the studio for the soiree, and Turtle’s Bar and Grill graciously gave all of our attendees a free drink coupon as well!

Pictured below with me is Melissa Gilman, editor (front); and Jennifer Sorenson, Publisher (right) of Savvy MN Magazine !! I LOVE working with these fabulous and talented ladies!!
