This photo is my tribute to the purple, and was featured on National Geographic’s website, as well as it was trending on social media in the weeks following Prince’s death. I am thrilled with how it turned out, and believe that Prince would definitely approve …. not only of my image, but of the mad respect and love that Minneapolis has shown him.

When I set out to photograph the 35W bridge lit up purple in his memory, it was rainy and foggy. My friend and I couldn’t find the spot we were looking for to take the image from. We missed our turn and were getting frustrated. We agreed to take one my attempt at finding the spot. As we came around a corner somewhere on the U of M campus, the rain let up and this photo came into view. A friendly raccoon hung out with us as we battled the strong winds in an attempt at not getting blurry images with a 20 second exposure. I truly believe Prince smiled down on us as I took this image, and it is a memory I will never forget!  Thank YOU for supporting my art by purchasing this image.
